News and Events from Rockcliffe

A Word from our Chair

Hi, I’m Sarah, Chair of Rockcliffe Community Association.  I’m a married mother of four, work part time as teacher and I love living in Whitley Bay

In the Easter holidays 2012 we were eagerly awaiting improvements to Rockcliffe Park after Northumbria Water had carried out drainage works in there.  Unfortunately, the work we were hoping to be undertaken was not happening so I began a campaign with other residents to apply pressure to North Tyneside Council and Northumbria Water to promise the necessary work would take place to make our park a safe and lovely place for all users. Many people (over sixty) joined us in emailing the elected Mayor one weekend. By Monday teatime we had a list of promises!

Encouraged by our “people power” I held a public meeting in Rockcliffe Scout Hut and over 60 residents attended to share their hope s and dreams for Rockcliffe.

Rockcliffe Community Association became a constituted group in June of 2012.  After our successful campaign to have improvements made to Rockcliffe Park, we formed a committee to work together towards improving the Rockcliffe area of Whitley Bay, both environmentally and socially; to create a really wonderful, welcoming place to live, work and visit.

Please feel free to get in touch and let us know what you think. Thanks for your support. Sarah
